Restful in the rain on Kamala Beach

Tis’ the season when the rain visits ever so often. Going to the beach in the rain sets the mood for a slightly different kind of romance. Kamala Beach provides an attractive option for those who are in search of more privacy as compared to the other popular beaches in Phuket. Kamala beach used to be a quiet place with the majority of its residents making a living by fishing. It is located south of Surin Beach, before Kata Karon Beach. It stretches along a mountainous area, covering an area of 2 kilometres. Although the sand on this beach may not be white nor of the finest texture, the beach itself is peaceful and suitable for a relaxing vacation. Hence, several foreigners who choose this beach tend to stay for long periods. Kamala Beach has recently become a new destination for many people after the Tsunami in 2004. Its wide shore is fully exposed to ocean waves, hence, this beach was severely damaged in the disaster. When footage of a huge wave hitting the residential area was spread around various news channels around the world, people became familiar with the name of Kamala Beach.

After a certain length of recovery period, Kamala came back to life with more vigor than before. Various luxury resorts and hotels were built after the disaster. Because a major tourist attraction like “Phuket Fantasy” is already located in the area, having more hotels only further attracted more tourists to the area. Kamala Beach hosts a statue that serves to commemorate the deaths of the Tsunami victims. The statue is called “Jit Jakrawarn” (meaning “Universal Spirit” in English), it’s a work of the artist Udon Jiraksa. With the use of a technique that involves stainless steel welding, this statue is a ball made of steel wires that are connected together. In the middle is an oval-shaped steel that symbolizes the core and support of earth as it circles around itself and the sun—which is connected to magnetic fields that are all interconnected in the universe. It symbolizes the power of the earth’s torque as it spins as well as the way nature adjusts itself for balance. It certainly makes up for another major highlight of Kamala beach.

During times of rainy weather, the high ocean waves draw in tourists who desire to take up surfing lessons. You can also see local surfers going out to the ocean to show off their surfing skills. This beach also offers guests various sorts of accommodation, including 5-star resorts located on an elevated land that offers one of the most breathtaking views of the Andaman Ocean on Kamala Beach. There are also hotels for backpackers and guesthouses that won't put a dent in your wallet, as well as apartments that offer daily rental. In addition, the beach offers a shopping area, a surfing school, spas, small bars, and restaurants that offer foods from everywhere to serve backpackers who come alone, as a couple, and with the family.

Kamala Beach, in short, is worth a trip for anyone in the mood to explore new territories.

หลังๆ มานี้หาดกมลาเริ่มเป็นเป้าหมายใหม่ที่หลายคนมุ่งหน้ามาเยือนหลังจาก เหตุการณ์ภัยพิบัติสึนามิปลายปี 2547 ด้วยเพราะเป็นชายหาดที่มีหน้ากว้างรับคลื่น เต็มๆ จึงได้รับความเสียหายจากเหตุการณ์ครั้งนั้นหนักหนาเอาการ พอภาพคลิป วิดีโอที่คลื่นยักษ์กำลังซัดเข้าไปยังชุมชนเผยแพร่ผ่านสื่อต่างๆ ไปทั่วโลก ก็รู้จักชื่อหาด กมลาหลังจากพักฟื้นตัวระยะหนึ่งหาดกมลาก็กลับมามีชีวิตอีกครั้ง คราวนี้คึกคัก ยิ่งกว่าเดิมมีโครงการโรงแรมรีสอร์ตระดับหรูเข้าไปลงทุนบวกกับจากเดิมที่มีแหล่ง ท่องเที่ยวการแสดงระดับโลกอย่าง “ภูเก็ตแฟนตาซี” ที่เป็นสีสันของภูเก็ตด้วย คราวนี้ ใครๆ ก็อยากมาเยือนกมลา หาดแห่งนี้มีอนุสรณ์สถานสึนามิเป็นงานประติมากรรม ชื่อว่า “จิตจักรวาล” ผลงานของศิลปินไทยนามว่า อุดร จิรักษา ใช้เทคนิคการ เชื่อมโลหะ                 สแตนเลสเป็นเส้นเชื่อมโยงกันเพื่อต้องการสื่อถึงแกนและแรงหนุนของโลกที่หมุนรอบตัวเองและดวงอาทิตย์ที่สัมพันธ์กับสนามแม่เหล็กทั้งหลายในจักรวาลซึ่งต่อเนื่องกันออกไปสื่อถึงแรงหมุนของโลกและการปรับเปลี่ยนของธรรมชาติเพื่อ ความสมดุล เป็นอีกหนึ่งไฮไลท์์ของหาดกมลา
